Facilities

We are incredibly proud of the facilities we have at our school, they help to provide an excellent social and learning environment for our students. Some of our highlights include:

Library

Our LRC is a fantastic learning space, the library offers access to digital and self-service facilities, 12 computers and 10,000 books. 
It provides a range of study areas with modern comfortable seating and it has been designed to enable the space to be used flexibly in a variety of ways, including lessons and whole school events. 

Sports Hall

Our newly refurbished sports hall has the facility to carry out a wide range of sports including hockey and gymnastics. The sports block also contains a fitness suite, 2 AstroTurf MUGA's, table tennis tables, and basketball and netball courts.

Music and Practice Rooms

Our music room is equipped with Apple Macs loaded with up-to-date music production software and MIDI keyboards for digital sequencing. We also have 2 music practice rooms where students can take lessons in guitar, piano, drums, dhol and vocals.

Product Design Workshops

In addition to our CAD/CAM rooms for product design. Our workshop is the perfect place for students to realise their designs with traditional hand tools, wood-working machinery (wooden lathes, fret saws, pillar drills etc.) a vacuum former, laser cutter, and 3D printers.

Science Laboratories

The Science faculty at Kings Heath Secondary school boasts 7 Science Laboratories, four of which are newly refurbished.

The laboratories are all equipped with various instruments and tools to facilitate accurate scientific investigations.

The primary goal of our laboratories is to provide a safe and efficient workspace where our budding scientists can perform experiments, analyse data, and develop new skills.

Food Technology Room

Our brand-new food room enables students to prepare, cook, clean-up in small groups. It is equipped with 3 washing stations, and 6 full cooking stations with: induction hobs, ovens, and full sets of utensils.

Main Hall

Our multi-purpose, 300 seat main hall has retractable, soft bench, tiered seating and is equipped with a data projector, sound system, RGB lighting and multi-wall projection.
This flexible space is ideal for assemblies, large meetings, theatrical productions, concerts, and school ceremonies.

Excellent IT facilities

We have plentiful options to support our students digital learning with: 

• 3 IT classrooms
• 2 CAD/CAM rooms (for product design) 
• bookable laptops, chromebooks & iPads available for lesson use

Beyond the classroom, we also have computer suites in the Hub and the Library for students to use during breaks, clubs and before/after school.

The Hub

Our dedicated learning support, wellbeing and intervention area known as ‘The Hub’ was opened in April 2014. The Hub is used by the Learning Support team as a teaching base for small groups and one-to-one intervention, as well as providing a place where students can socialise in a managed environment during social times.
